Screening of "Women from the Sea – Significant Gestures EU Episode"
The Hague Humanity Hub | Friday, June 5 - 6 PM - 9 PM
The stories of women connected to the ocean are travelling to The Hague.
The Women from the Sea – Significant gestures, EU Episode, developed in collaboration with the WIN-BIG project, will be screened during the upcoming Just Peace Movie Night x The Ocean and Us event, bringing audiences together for an evening of film, dialogue and reflection on our relationship with the sea and the people whose lives are shaped by it.
Produced as part of the wider Women from the Sea documentary series by Raquel Clemente Martins, this episode highlights the voices, experiences and emotional connections of women working across Europe’s Blue Economy. Through personal stories and striking visuals, the documentary explores how the ocean is much more than a workplace. It is identity, heritage, passion and purpose.
The screening also connects closely with the spirit of the WIN-BIG project and the recently launched Women Ocean Champions book, both focused on making women in ocean sectors more visible and inspiring future generations to see themselves in blue careers and leadership roles. From marine research and fisheries to conservation, innovation and coastal communities, these stories remind us that there is no single path into the Blue Economy, and that representation matters.
The event in The Hague will create space not only to watch the documentary, but also to spark conversations around inclusion, sustainability and the human connection to the ocean.
Join us for an evening celebrating the women helping shape Europe’s blue future!
