Empowering women in the Blue Economy
We map the gender status and capacity gaps across sea basins and blue sectors and develop tailored capacity-building
tools to make the European blue industry more gender-balanced and sustainable.
WHAT WE DO
WIN-BIG develops female- and basin-tailored capacity-building to increase the participation and representation of women
across EU geographies and BuE sectors and work towards a gender balanced Blue Economy.
We focus on
3 emerging BuE sectors:
-
Blue Sports and Sustainable Tourism
-
Blue Bioeconomy
-
Marine Energy and Robotics
GENDER MAPPING
We map and report on the gender status of BuE sectors across the 6 EU sea basins, to increase knowledge and collect data on women’s role and contributions to the sector.
CAPACITY BUILDING
We identify capacity-building needs and develop tailored training modules, learning labs and MOOCs to boost women’s capacities in entrepreneurship and innovation.
NETWORKING
We create online space and tailor-made in-person events for building community and fostering exchanges of knowledge and best practices between sea basins.
WIN-BIG BOOK AND POP-UP EXHIBITION
We promote female role models and women’s leadership through testimonials and portraits of women in BuE sectors to debunk gender bias and inspire more women including young girls to join the BuE sectors.
WHO WE ARE
We are a group of 14 leading universities and R&D institutions, clusters and networks, SMEs and NGOs from 9 countries covering all 6 EU sea basins supported by a top-notch advisory board and an extended stakeholder network beyond EU borders.
