The WIN-BIG Baltic Event is part of a series of three regional Sea Basin events (Mediterranean, Baltic and Atlantic) organised by the WIN-BIG project to strengthen gender inclusivity in the Blue Economy across Europe.

This 2-day event will bring together professionals, leaders, and stakeholders from all sectors of the Blue Economy to create a welcoming space for knowledge sharing, skill building, and connection. The event will address the barriers women face in the sector, showcase opportunities, and foster innovative ways to climb the Blue Economy career ladder.

Whether you work in shipping, marine energy, aquaculture, research, coastal tourism, or ocean technology, this event is designed to equip you with tools and networks to grow professionally and inspire change.

The event will be held in English.

Programme Overview

Day 1 – Conference & Learning Labs - 5 November

Venue: Seeburg

The opening Conference Day will gather up to 120 participants from across the Baltic Blue Economy to share insights, discuss challenges, and collaborate on building a more inclusive sector. The programme will feature:

  • Keynote speeches and expert-led panels

  • Regional gender mapping results from the WIN-BIG project

  • Discussions on overcoming barriers and enhancing women’s professional roles

  • Networking opportunities with peers, mentors, and stakeholders

In the afternoon, participants will join the first round of Learning Labs, a hands-on experience where experts and mentors guide attendees through practical workshops designed to fill capacity gaps, foster leadership, and strengthen professional skills.

Please note: The Learning Labs are limited to 60 participants.

 

Day 2 – Learning Labs & Women’s Retreat - 6 November

Venue: Kiel Marine Science Campus

The day will begin with the second round of Learning Labs, building on the insights and skills gained during Day 1.

In the afternoon, we will host a unique Women’s Retreat, a transformative and reflective space designed to:

  • Foster confidence and resilience

  • Amplify women’s voices

  • Create an intimate and supportive environment for sharing experiences and building connections

This retreat is invitation-only, with a maximum of 40 participants.

  • Spaces for the Learning Labs (Day 1 and 2) and Women’s Retreat (Day 2) are limited. Early registration is highly recommended

Is this a women-only focused event?

Yes and no.

🚹🚺 For the conference, we encourage both women and men allies to attend.

🚺 For the learning labs and retreat, we are focusing only on a women audience.

 

What is the location of the event?

Yes, it is! 🤩  We created this event FOR YOU, free of charge as we want to support women as much as we can in their professional paths.

 

Can I register only to one day or a part of the event?

Yes, you can as each of the three components of the WIN-BIG event have different capacities 🙂

  • Conference Day: We have a capacity of 120 people
  • Learning Labs: Attendance will be limited to 50 participants
  • Women Retreat: Attendance will be limited to 50 participants
