University of Galway attends and promotes WIN-BIG project at the Conference Accelerate Action: A Celebration of Women in the Marine and Maritime Sectors

The conference Accelerate Action: A Celebration of Women in the Marine and Maritime Sectors was held in Dun Laoghaire on 6 March 2025. The event aimed to promote onsite networking for all women from across the marine and maritime sectors to celebrate Women International Day 2025.
The programme consisted of a Keynote speech titled “Reflections from a woman in leaders, strategy, governance and equality” and a panel discussion titled “The Leadership we don’t talk about: the truth behind success"
The Commissioners of the Irish Lights, together with the Maritime Area Regulatory Authority and BIM, were the hosts of this event. The Irish Lights is a maritime organisation that delivers an essential safety service around the coast of Ireland and supports the marine industry and coastal communities. Other collaborators of the event were: Enterprise Ireland, Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers, Irish Chamber of Shipping, Irish Coast Guard, Irish Maritime Development Office, Irish Navy, Marine Institute, Marine Ireland Industry Network, the National Maritime College of Ireland, Údarás na Gaeltachta, and Water Safety Ireland.
Representatives of the University of Galway attended the conference and promoted the Women in Blue Economy Survey.
