Mná na Mara, Celebrating Achievement, Fostering Innovation, and Preserving Maritime Heritage

Údarás na Gaeltachta hosted ‘Mná na Mara‘ on 13 February 2025 at the Connemara Coast Hotel, Galway.

Key voices from Ireland’s maritime sector came together at this event to celebrate women’s contribution to the marine industry, foster connections, and inspire the next generation of leaders.

The keynote speaker, Marie Gleeson (Nav Mar Leadership), shared insights from her notable career spanning naval service, renewable energy, and maritime consultancy. The forum focused on three dynamic panel sessions:

  • Leadership and Career Development in the Maritime Sector
  • Education and Research: Shaping the Future of Marine Industries
  • Coastal Communities and Culture: Maritime Heritage and Innovation in the Gaeltacht

Notable speakers included Laura Brien (CEO, MARA), Caroline Bocquel (CEO, BIM), Dr. Orla Flynn (ATU), Evelyn O’Toole (CLS), and other figures from industry, academia, and coastal communities. Important themes were discussed including sustainable ocean management, blue economy entrepreneurship, and the integration of traditional maritime knowledge with modern practices.
