The 11th Annual World Ocean Summit and Expo returned to Lisbon, Portugal, in 2024, building on the success of last year's impactful event in a city known for advancing the sustainable ocean economy. The summit brought together a wide range of ocean stakeholders, including representatives from business, finance, government, policy-making bodies, civil society, and academia, with the goal of driving concrete actions toward a sustainable ocean economy.
 

At its heart, the summit aimed to promote new collaborations across various sectors, connecting NGOs, scientists, technology innovators, and investors. By gathering a diverse group of ocean ecosystem stakeholders, it served as a crucial platform for sparking innovative partnerships, developing solutions, and creating strategies to meet the 2030 targets of UN Sustainable Development Goal 14.

The 2024 agenda focuses on ocean health, emphasizing industry-led strategies to accelerate the sustainable growth of the ocean economy and offering solutions that address the relationship between oceans and climate change. Every session will focus on investment and cutting-edge financial mechanisms aimed at restoring ocean health.

The summit will feature high-level policy discussions in plenary sessions, detailed explorations of ocean-based industries, and practical solutions to ocean challenges in specialized track sessions. Additionally, the newly introduced "How to" working groups will offer hands-on sessions designed to produce actionable insights and strategies for individuals and organizations committed to improving ocean health.
